Lewis Creek wax cotton is waterproof, windproof, and will resist most stains. If your coat takes on a lived-in look after hard use in the field, it can be cleaned easily with warm water and a sponge.
With proper care and maintenance, your Lewis Creek coat will last a lifetime. To help ensure that it does, we recommend cleaning and reproofing it annually. If you would like to do it yourself, please follow these instructions:
Easy Cleaning:
- Brush away all surface dirt.
- Sponge clean with warm water. Use a soft brush for difficult stains.
- Hang to dry at room temperature.
REPROOFING
Rub-On Wax:
- Make sure your garment is clean and dry.
- Work wax evenly into fabric with a clean cloth. A hairdryer may be used to spread wax evenly. Pay special attention to creases, seams and areas of excessive wear. Avoid putting reproofing compound on too thick. The object of reproofing is to penetrate the fibers of the cotton, not to coat them with a thick layer of wax.
- Hang to dry in a warm room overnight.
Spray Wax:
- Make sure your garment is clean and dry.
- Spray garment with wax cotton spray reproofing. Pay special attention to creases, seams and areas of excessive wear. CAUTION: Do not use hairdryer when using spray wax.
- Work excess thoroughly into garment with clean cloth.
- Hang to dry in a warm room overnight.
Professional Reproofing Service:
- If you’d rather not do it yourself, we recommend the professional services of Green Mountain Reproofing. Their experienced technicians will help you restore your coat to near showroom condition.
